            Texas State University-San Marcos (www.txstate.edu) seeks a Chair for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (chemadmin.chemistry.txstate.edu). The successful candidate must hold a doctoral degree, have a strong record of extramurally-funded and internationally-recognized research, and be eligible for tenure at the rank of professor in the Department. Preference will be given to candidates having previous administrative and university teaching experience, a history of mentoring research students, and research interests that complement existing departmental programs. The Department consists of 17 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and participates in interdepartmental PhD programs. The University has an enrollment of 27,500 students and is increasing its number of graduate programs. San Marcos (www.ci.san-marcos.tx.us) is a community of almost 50,000 and is located on the eastern edge of the Texas Hill Country, 30 miles south of Austin and 50 miles north of San Antonio.
