SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE MARCH 1

Center for Diversity and Gender Studies for Undergraduate Minors Scholarship

$1000 Scholarship, which is divided equally for distribution in the Fall and Spring. Applicant Must:

  • have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA
  • be enrolled full-time for the fall and spring semesters when the scholarship is dispersed
  • be pursuing a degree from Texas State University with a declared minor in diversity studies or women's studies
  • have completed at least 12 hours of course work 
  • complete the following application including a 1 and a half to 2 page response to the following essay question: How do you think the knowledge gained with a minor in Diversity Studies/Women's Studies will benefit you as an individual, as a citizen, and/or as a member of today's workforce?

Scholarship issued the following Fall and Spring Semester

Nina Vaca-Humrichouse Scholarship

$500 scholarship available to full-time students at Texas State University.
The recipient(s) of the annual Nina Vaca-Humrichouse Scholarship is chosen from Latina students that:

  • are enrolled full time at Texas State University, taking a minimum of 12 hours per semester
  • have a minimum overall 2.5 GPA
  • exhibit leadership and commitment to public service
  • complete the following application including a 1 to 1 1/2  page response to the following essay question: Speak to what exhibiting leadership, committing to public service, and having a desire to make a difference in the community mean to you.

Scholarship issued the following Fall Semester

Cecil Mayo Scholarship for African American Males

$500 scholarship available to males enrolled full time at Texas State University. Selection Criteria:

  • full-time student enrolled at Texas State University taking a minimum of 12 hours per semester with a GPA of at least 2.75
  • preference for African American male student(s) exhibiting leadership, commitment to public service and a desire to make a difference in his community

Applicant must: respond  to the following essay question: In approximately 2 pages, speak to what exhibiting leadership, committing to public service, and having a desire to make a difference in the community mean to you.

 Scholarship issued the following Fall Semester

Graduate Gender Studies Scholarship

$1000 scholarship, which is divided equally for distribution in the Fall and Spring. Applicant must:

  • have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA
  • be enrolled in at least 6 hours of coursework for the Fall and Spring semesters that the scholarship will be dispersed 
  • have a 3.0 GPA in their undergraduate coursework or six hours of previous graduate work. 
  • be pursuing a graduate degree from Texas State University
  • submit 2 letters of reference that address the following: 
    • academic achievement
    • importance and quality of contributions and/or activities related to Gender Studies
    • potential for future contributions to gender studies and related fields
  • complete the following application including a two page essay that addresses the following: career goals, community involvement, and academic work related to gender studies
