CDGS Scholarships

 

Center for Diversity and Gender Studies for Undergraduate Minors Scholarship

$1000 Scholarship, which is divided equally for distribution in the Fall and Spring. 

Applicant must:

  • have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA
  • be enrolled full-time for the academic year that the scholarship is dispersed
  • be pursuing a degree from Texas State University with a declared minor in diversity studies or women's studies
  • have completed at least 12 hours of course work at Texas State University
  • complete the following application including a 2 page response to the following essay question: 
    • How do you think the knowledge gained with a minor in Diversity Studies/Women's Studies will benefit you as an individual, as a citizen, and/or as a member of today's workforce?

Applications due FEBRUARY 15 -- Scholarship issued the following Fall and Spring Semester

Nina Vaca-Humrichouse Scholarship

$500 scholarship available to full-time students at Texas State University.

Applicant must:

  • maintain a GPA of a least 2.5
  • specialize in multicultural studies with an emphasis on Latino/a recruitment and retention.
  • minority students are preferred

Applications due FEBRUARY 15 -- Scholarship issued the following Fall Semester

Cecil Mayo Scholarship for African American Males

$500 scholarship available to males enrolled full time at Texas State University.

Applicant must:

  • have a minimum overall 2.75 GPA
  • exhibit leadership, commitment to public service, and a desire to make a difference in his community.
  • respond to the following essay question in 250 words:

The historic empowerment purpose of Black Men United is "to ignite black men to action, to fellowship, to growth and development for the betterment of our communities." What does empowerment mean to you personally?

 

Applications due FEBRUARY 15 -- Scholarship issued the following Fall Semester

Graduate Gender Studies Scholarship

$1000 scholarship, which is divided equally for distribution in the Fall and Spring. 

Applicant must:

  • have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA
  • be enrolled in at least 6 hours of coursework for the Fall and Spring semesters that the scholarship will be dispersed 
  • have a 3.0 GPA in their undergraduate coursework or six hours of previous graduate work. 
  • be pursuing a graduate degree from Texas State University
  • submit 2 letters of reference that address the following: 
    • academic achievement
    • importance and quality of contributions and/or activities related to Gender Studies
    • potential for future contributions to gender studies and related fields
  • complete the following application inlcuding a two page essay that addresses the following: 
    • career goals, community involvement, and academic work related to gender studies
