Responsibilities
The chair is responsible for academic
leadership in the department in its efforts to recruit, retain and evaluate
diverse and distinguished faculty and promote their professional development,
to provide high quality instructional programs; to increase scholarly and grant
activity, to advise, recruit and retain students; to carry out the strategic
planning, budget preparation and execution to approve and recommend curriculum
and student degree programs; and serve on the Oversight Committee for the
Freeman Ranch and other associated. The appointment is on twelve month basis
and includes teaching responsibilities. Department of Agriculture information

Qualification
Standards
Required qualifications include an
earned doctorate in one of the disciplines served by the Agriculture
Department, i.e., agriculture education, agricultural systems management,
animal science, plant and soil science or a closely related field;
qualifications for appointment as a tenured associate or full professor; a
record of published research in peer reviewed journals; a record of external
funding and academic program development; and evidence of working with
constituencies outside the university.
Preferred qualifications include a
minimum of ten years college teaching experience with evidence of excellence;
administrative experience in budgeting and personnel; a demonstrated record of
administrative success; experience working with graduate and undergraduate
programs.
