Note: “These pivot tables are intended as an interim replacement for the Fact Book while a data warehouse is developed at Texas State.  They generally provide more information than what is available in the Fact Book and are much easier for us to update on a regular and timely basis.  Another advantage of these pivot tables is that they work in very much the same way as the data warehouse we are developing as the future source of official university data.  For those who have not used pivot tables before, we are offering hands-on workshops in the fall through the Office of Professional Development.  We are also developing a short on-line tutorial video to show you how to use pivot tables and think you will find them easy to use once you have a little experience.  Generally, the numbers in these tables match what is currently in the Fact Book.  However, there are two notable exceptions: (1) The tables are built from a different data source and as a result a few semesters differ slightly.  We are making an effort to reconcile these differences and will update the pivot tables as we do so.  (2) The majors in the enrollment tables are consistently captured from the end of the semester, while the majors in the Fact Book were captured at varying times between the middle and end of semesters depending on when final builds of Coordinating Board CBM001 reports occurred.  The end of semester capture point is a more consistent way of comparing trends in enrollment by major, but it means that while most figures match those of the Fact Book in the university-wide view, the enrollment numbers in departments and colleges that are tied to student major differ slightly from what is shown in the Fact Book.”
