Free Common Reading Books for Incoming Freshmen

All incoming freshmen will receive a free copy of the Common Reading book during New Student Orientation (NSO). Students who will enter Texas State University in the fall receive a copy at their summer NSO session. Students entering in the spring will receive a copy at the January NSO session.

Note: If you are an incoming freshman who did not receive your Common Reading book during an NSO session, or if your copy has been damaged or lost, contact the University Seminar office at 512.245.7952 to arrange to pick up a copy.

Other Students (Non-Freshmen)

The Common Reading book is available for purchase at the Texas State Bookstore, located in the LBJ Student Center.

Parents and Family Members

The Common Reading book is available for purchase at the Texas State Bookstore, located in the LBJ Student Center. Parents and family members who attend New Student Orientation will receive a card with information about the book and the program.

Faculty and Staff

Instructors teaching University Seminar (US 1100) will receive a free copy of the Common Reading book during one of the Instructor Development Workshops. If you are a US 1100 instructor who did not receive a book, contact the University Seminar office at 512.245.7952 to arrange to pick up your copy.

Administrators may request copies for faculty and staff by contacting the director of the Common Reading Program at 512.245.3579.

For other individual faculty and staff members, the Common Reading book is available for purchase at the Texas State Bookstore, located in the LBJ Student Center.

Accommodations

Common Reading books are distributed in paperback format. If you require an alternate format (such as audiobook) due to a disability, please contact the University Seminar Office at 512.245.7952 or the Common Reading Program at 512.245.3579.
