Trenton’s Thoughts on Texas State
Why Texas State
I came to Texas State because of the family atmosphere and the ambition you feel throughout the community. I’m a self-starter, and I am always looking for ways to better myself. When looking at this university I saw the ambition that Texas State had for the future and the phenomenal goals it has every year, and I wanted to be a part of that in every way.
Why Finance
Finance is a competitive field with a little bit of an edge to it, and I could take my knowledge and use it in any avenue of life I saw fit. The professors within the department here give you a direct education and are hands-on, so it makes it challenging.
Career Goals
After obtaining my MBA/JD I would like to go into corporate law. After getting settled in my field I would like to run for some kind of public office.
Favorite Professor
So many people have helped me grow as a man through my time here I cannot choose just one. My two favorites here are
Janet Hale, my business law professor, and Terence Parker, the director of recruitment and retention. Dr. Hale teaches you with a passion beyond any other. She will continue to not only see you grow academically, but as a person. Parker serves as a beacon to the Texas State community, and throughout my time here he took me under his wing and helped me develop as a leader.
Most Valuable Learning Experience
At Texas State, the sky is the limit. Every avenue can be explored no matter where you are from or who you are. The tools and confidence you gain here will follow you everywhere and will shine through you.
Best Studying Advice
Take time out of your day to review after classes because, even though it may be a pain, it will help in the end. Also, never be afraid to talk to your professors. They are here for you.

My favorite thing about Texas State is the fact that we have 30,000-plus students and keep a home-like feel.
Surprises About Texas State
The connection that I have gained not only from professors but also from other students is something that I didn’t expect, but I would not change for the world.
What I Tell Future Texas State Students
Texas State brings out the drive in you through its continuous efforts to improve as a university. It wants the best out of you and makes you pull the best out of yourself. You will get to work hands-on with tenured professors, as well as get the opportunity to explore any and every avenue that you see fit. You’ll be respected and accepted all around. Name another school that does that.
