Robert's Thoughts on Texas State

Why Texas State

The atmosphere here from the moment you step on campus is great. Plus the professors and staff here truly care about your success.

Why International Relations

I love to study different cultures, groups and places. So international studies was a natural fit for me.

Career Goals

I want to work for the FBI or the State Department.

How My Major Will Help Me Reach My Goals

Having a thorough knowledge of how different countries and cultures interact with each other is essential when working for the State Department. With the growth of the counter-intelligence programs in the FBI, having a degree in international relations can be quite valuable.

Favorite Professor

My favorite professor would have to be my economic geography professor, Brock Brown. His classes are great in general. Some days you will be laughing in class while others can be serious. He does everything he can to keep your attention and if you don’t understand the material he will do whatever it takes to help you. But his tests are not easy, so make sure you learn the material!

Best Studying Advice

I am a fan of group study. Meet the people in your class and get together to study. Also, taking good notes in class does miracles.

Favorite Campus Hangout

The rocking chairs on the fourth floor of LBJ Student Center. This is just a place you can sit down and relax. The view of San Marcos and the student center mall is great.

Favorite Campus Dining Hall

The Den is great. It has a little bit of everything and when the weather is warm you can sit outside in the covered breezeway and hang out with friends.

What I Tell Future Texas State Students

I tell them that here at Texas State you have a name not a number.
