Miyaka's Thoughts on Texas State
Why Texas State
After attending many different piano competitions at this university, I knew I wanted to apply.
Why Interdisciplinary Studies
I chose teaching because of my interest in helping people with special needs. For the past eight years I have volunteered at a camp for children with special needs. Each summer, I learn a new quality about life.
Career Goals
My goal is to become a PPCD (Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities) teacher. After a couple of years of teaching, I plan to go back to school and receive a master’s in applied behavior analysis.
How My Major Will Help Me Reach My Goals
My goal is to change the world today by teaching the minds of tomorrow. My major will help me reach my goal by supplying me with the necessary tools I need to accomplish that goal.
Typical Day
I don’t really have a typical day. On Mondays and Wednesdays I have a practicum at Lamar Elementary School, as well as class. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have classes, reading and work.
Favorite Professor
All of my professors are my favorites because they each helped mold me into the person that I am today.

It has to be the Quad, because you can see all your friends, both those who live on campus and those who commute, in one place for at least a second.
Favorite San Marcos Hangout
Grin’s — the prices are perfect for college students, and the food is delicious.

Somewhere outdoors and near a body of water.
