Lance's Thoughts on Texas State
Why Texas State
I chose Texas State because of the small town feel, as well as the many opportunities offered by such a large university.
I chose the biology
program at Texas State because of the great reputation of the faculty and the variety of courses offered for pre-professional students.
Upon completion of my bachelor’s degree, I plan to pursue graduate school to become a physician assistant (PA) and specialize in cardiology care. Once I complete PA school, I would like to work in an underserved rural community so that I can help those who cannot afford medical care.
In the Department of Biology, I have come across two professors whom I admire and respect greatly — Dr. Bonner and Dr. Garcia. Both have educational backgrounds that encourage my highest interest in the biological sciences. Dr. Bonner
encourages active, hands-on learning in the field, while providing a structured learning environment in lecture. Dr. Garcia
challenges her students to strive for an optimal learning experience in her lecture as well as labs. She guides her students to success inside and outside the classroom through professional support and advice.

Favorite Campus Dining Hall
Harris Dining Hall is the absolute best because of the grill, the stir-fry stand and the endless salad bar.
Favorite San Marcos Hangout
Five Mile Dam is a nice place to hang out and get away from the feel of a city, and I enjoy fishing where it is quiet and relaxing.
What I Like Most About Texas State
I most like Texas State for its student diversity and curriculum.
