 | ![]() | Khoi's Thoughts on Texas State Why Texas State? I wanted to be one of the rising stars at the fastest growing university in Texas. Why Accounting and Dance? I've always liked to work with numbers, and I like to do things in an orderly fashion. So, in business, accounting just seemed like the right choice for me. After a few introductory classes, I learned that it was. As for dance, I've always been told that I had talent, but it wasn't until I came to college and began trying new things that I learned to trust myself. I recently went to New York City, auditioned and was accepted into the professional training program at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. Future Plans I will be moving to New York City to complete the program at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance while working as a staff accountant. Then I will pursue my master’s degree in dance and become a professor of dance at a university and become a certified public accountant. On Managing a Double Major It's been a challenge juggling the two majors because of time constraints. There’s scheduling in classes, studying for accounting, studying for dance history/kinesiology, rehearsals and actively participating in both departments. But having a double major doesn't necessarily mean that your social life ends. As long as you schedule all of your academic activities, then you'll know when you're free to have fun with your friends. I think it's best to be well rounded because there are so many options in the world. You can't just confine yourself to one activity. Given the events at Virginia Tech, we all know that life isn't a promise, and you have to use your time on earth wisely. What I Tell Future Texas State Students Make Texas State your own. Take the initiative. Move mountains. Be active. You want to look back at your college years and have no regrets.
