Sciences have always been fascinating to me. Biology and biochemistry will provide me with a great foundation for my future career.
Career Goals
My goal is to be a cardiothoracic surgeon. Medicine requires not only hours of studying and good grades, but also a passionate mind and lots of dedication. Surgery has always been astonishing to me. It is amazing what the human mind, and of course with the help of technology.
How My Major Will Help Me Reach My Goals
The biology and biochemistry departments have provided me with great opportunities, from hands-on experience in a biology lab, to experiencing surgeries at a local hospital through a biology class internship.
Favorite Professor
I appreciate every professor at Texas State. I have always been able to talk to them personally and learn something new from all of them.
Dr. Dana Garcia has always been an inspiration. I was fortunate to take two of my biology courses, vertebrate physiology and neurobiology, with Dr. Garcia. Dr. Garcia taught me that no matter how busy you are, there is always time for what you are passionate about. She also gave me the opportunity to work in her research lab, which has taught me tremendous amount of research techniques.
My Most Valuable Learning Experience at Texas State
One of my most unforgettable experiences is the people sleeping at the library the day before our organic chemistry national exam. It was a crazy semester, but there was always time to spend with friends and share those hectic moments with someone who relates to you. I will never forget those hectic nights that now seemed funny and the best studying times.
