Career Goals

To be a lifelong learner, teach art education and one day become a director of art. I will be pursuing my master’s in art education and would love to be a professor at Texas State.

How My Major Will Help Me Reach My Goals

The knowledge and classroom experience I have acquired at Texas State have prepared me to be a successful educator from the standpoint of planning and executing classroom instruction and appropriate curriculum for every age group. My major has given me the opportunity to learn about artists, art techniques, styles and philosophies used in becoming a well-rounded educator.

Favorite Professor

Teri Evans-Palmer. Her enthusiasm for the arts and for teaching extends beyond the classroom. She was always willing to help in any way possible with projects, learning outside the classroom, and stressing the importance of participating in extracurricular activities in your field. She also is a role model for lifelong learning and professionalism.

My Most Valuable Learning Experience at Texas State

I had no digital media experience before coming to Texas State, so I went into Eloiese Krabbenhoft’s digital media classroom fearful of the unknown. From the very beginning Mrs. Krabbenhoft was a positive influence as I struggled to learn applications in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. She helped me see that mistakes are the only ways of learning, and in making mistakes we become better at what we’re trying to do. 

 

My Best Studying Advice

Be persistent, be diligent, give yourself ample time, and prepare, prepare, prepare. It also helps to love what you are learning.
