David's Thoughts on Texas State
Why Texas State
I chose Texas State because it had everything I was looking for: a location in the Texas Hill Country, a great
criminal justice program and friendly people.
Why Criminal Justice
My dad’s career as a police detective inspired me to help people just like he does. A degree in criminal justice will prepare me for a wide range of career opportunities from retail loss prevention to corrections to law enforcement. I’ll be able to help make my community a better place for everyone to live.
Career Goals
I would like to further my education by getting my master’s degree in criminal justice. Also, I would like to continue working in loss prevention to advance to a management position or work for a federal law enforcement agency such as the FBI or DEA.
How My Major Will Help Me Reach My Goals
Texas State has one of the best criminal justice programs. All of my professors have exceptional experience and have taught me a lot.
Favorite Professor
Dr. Wayman Mullins’ terrorism class was really cool because he is very knowledgeable on the subject, but all of my criminal justice professors have been phenomenal. Their experience in the field is outstanding.
