Colter's Thoughts on Texas State
Why Texas State
The atmosphere here from the moment you step on campus is great. Plus the professors and staff here truly care about your success.
Why Public Relations
I started out in marketing and switched to journalism. Then I switched to public relations because I found it to be a pretty good balance between the two.
Career Goals
If I could map out my career, I would work my way up to an athletic director position at a major university, then later in life become a journalism or public relations professor.
Best Studying Advice
Study extra hard for the first exam in each class because you don't know what to expect and it is way better to be over prepared than under prepared. Plus, good grades on the first exams set a good tone for the rest of the semester.

Why I'm Involved at Texas State
The biggest benefit of being involved in so many ways is the opportunity to meet so many people. College is just as much about networking and making lifelong friends as it is about earning a degree.
Honors and Awards

Best Campus Hangout
It has to be the river. In the spring I'll grab a handful of notes to study, sit out in the sun, and when I need a break I hop in the river.
Where I Relax
On the fourth floor of the
LBJ Student Center there's a bunch of rocking chairs that look out over campus. It's a great place to stop after a test or class and just relax for a bit.
What I Tell Future Texas State Students
It's the best deal in Texas when it comes to getting a college degree from a major university. The entire institution is going in the right direction and is earning a reputation for being a student-centered university.
