Ariana's Thoughts on Texas State
Why Texas State
I took a tour of the campus and fell in love with it. My major is early childhood education and my minor is special education, and I knew that Texas State is the best school for education majors. Another aspect of Texas State that I liked was that it wasn’t too big or too small; it’s just the right atmosphere for college students.
Favorite Professor
My favorite teacher is Professor Mollie Tower. She teaches music for elementary teachers and she shows students ways to incorporate music into the classroom. I love music and felt that we both shared a passion for music and teaching students. She has an enthusiastic personality and she taught me how to be the best teacher I can be for my future students.
Most Valuable Learning Experience at Texas State
I’ve learned how to become a better leader. As a leader in high school I felt that I had all the leadership skills one should acquire. Coming to Texas State helped me realize that as you age you have different experiences that help you enhance your leadership skills. In the future, these skills will help me take responsibility and act as a mentor for others.
Best Studying Advice
Do not procrastinate. Study alone and review notes with a group. Take good notes in class, read your assigned readings, keep a planner to organize your homework and events, and take time out of each day to study.

Why I am Involved at Texas State
Being in Hip Hop Congress helps me spread the importance of diversity. We put on a diversity presentation every year for freshmen during PAWS Preview, and I feel honored to be a part of one of their first experiences at Texas State. I also love Hip Hop Congress because as a singer I can share my music with others. Texas State also helped HHC record a professional CD called
Texas Statement that is all about the university. I enjoy being in Student Foundation because of the alumni relations we build, and ASG helps me represent my fellow students.
What I Tell Future Texas State Students
It’s a great school. We have the best education department, one of the best geography departments, and the only sound recording technology program in Texas, along with the first Hip Hop Congress in the south that recorded and released the first mix tape at Texas State at its very own studio. We have a beautiful river and college community. It’s the best university in Texas!
