Andrew's Thoughts on Texas State
Why Texas State?
I wanted the ability to connect with faculty on a personal level. I had heard I would be able to do that in the business school at Texas State. I’ve found that the professors really care how we do and genuinely want to talk to their students and spend time with them. Another reason I chose Texas State was that I was told the new
McCoy Hall would be incredible, and it has exceeded my expectations.
Favorite Professor
Dr. Mary Ann Stutts, a marketing professor in the McCoy College of Business Administration, took a chance and put me on the American Advertising Federation (AAF) competition team, allowing me to learn as we created our campaign instead of from a textbook. Her support of the AAF team has resulted in a long track record of success.
Why I am Involved at Texas State
I belong to student organizations to meet people with similar interests, network with professionals and gain leadership experience. If you participate rather than just join, you’ll have great things to talk about in interviews and while networking.
What I tell future Texas State students
Seek opportunities to excel here. It’s not about getting a diploma; it’s about improving yourself. Find ways to go beyond the required and push yourself so that your boundaries are stretched and you can do anything. That’s what Texas State lets you do by offering clubs, competitions and activities. Professors will gladly critique your work beyond the grading scale and let you know what you really need to improve on.
