Alyson's Thoughts on Texas State
Why Texas State
Texas State was the first and only campus I visited, because as soon as I came here, I was sure that I was going to fit in perfectly in San Marcos. Everyone is so nice and inviting, the campus is beautiful, and I love the whole feeling of the city.
Favorite Professor
Dr. Pollard is one of my favorites. His lectures always keep me interested in class, and whenever anyone has a question about the material, he will stop everything to re-explain instead of rushing through material and leaving people behind. He also gets students involved outside the classroom. Labs are held out at the Freeman Ranch so that we can get hands-on experience with the subjects we’re learning about.
My Most Valuable Learning Experience at Texas State
My most valuable experiences have taken place in the labs out at the
Freeman Ranch. The labs are hands-on, meaning you have to be aware of the other people and the animals you’re working with so that no mistakes or injuries happen. The labs give me real-life experiences that will really benefit me in the future.

Why I’m Involved at Texas State
I love the group interaction and participation that clubs provide. The most valuable benefit of being in clubs is learning to work with people who have different ideas but toward a common goal. Teamwork is very important in being a good leader and a good group member.
Where I Go for Fun
I like to go to concerts at Gordo’s and
Cheatham Street Warehouse. It’s fun to see new bands perform around town.
What I Like Most About Texas State
I feel at home at Texas State and in San Marcos. There is always something to do. It seems like almost everyone I have met here loves being here and shares the same feelings I have for the school. The weather is almost always beautiful, so you can always find someone to do something with outside. Texas State has given me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful friends that I will have the rest of my life.
What I Tell Future Texas State Students
I tell them that if they like to meet new people and experience things that no other city has to offer, they will love Texas State. Texas State has the most outgoing students and is located in the most amazing city. Texas State has so much to offer that it would be hard not to fit in.
