Marching Band

Texas State’s marching camps are administered by SASI of Austin, Texas. They are designed to foster performance skills in two critical positions within the contemporary high school marching band — the Drum Major and Colorguard.

Participants receive intense instruction on an individual and group basis from regionally and nationally known clinicians. A demonstration in each of the three areas is presented on the last day of camp.

SASI Drum Major Clinic

The SASI Drum Major Clinic is for students who will be drum majors in 2009 or who desire to one day be drum majors. Further, many band directors choose to send their entire leadership staff due to the comprehensive curriculum!

The curriculum includes extensive training in areas such as conducting, marching fundamentals and leadership. The SASI camp is recognized throughout the United States as one of the finest and most individualized camps of its kind.

The camp is led by Ron Morrison, Director of Fine Arts for Pearland Independent School District, and Jeremy Spicer, Associate Director of Bands at Cedar Park High School and Director of the Cedar Park High School Marching Band.

SASI Colorguard Camp

The SASI Colorguard Camp is designed for students with varying levels of proficiency.

The camp features  a fresh approach to performance in movement, dance, weapons and flags. Participants are grouped by ability level and learn routines specially designed to develop individual skills for the busy marching season ahead.

Michael Floyd of Kennesaw Mountain (Georgia) High School Band and formerly of the Phantom Regiment coordinates this camp with other members of the SASI colorguard staff, including Candice Partridge of Leander High School.
