Wind Ensemble

About the Wind Ensemble

The Texas State Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Rod Schueller, is comprised of the most outstanding wind and percussion majors in the School of Music and other gifted non-music majors who are selected by audition. The ensemble is dedicated to the performance of the finest wind repertoire regardless of the period or disposition of the instrumental forces. The ensemble has performed for such prestigious music associations as the Texas Music Educators Association (2007, 1994, 1988, 1983, and 1978), the College Band Directors National Association (2008 & 1990), the College Music Society (2006), and the Music Educators National Conference (1992). In recent years, the ensemble has collaborated with composers Steven Bryant, Rob Deemer, Donald Grantham, John Mackey, Timothy Mahr, Russell Riepe, Jack Stamp, and Frank Ticheli among others.

The Wind Ensemble rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 to 4:30 pm in both the fall and spring semesters.  Each student earns one hour of credit for his or her participation.
