Report Fraud, Waste and Abuse
The Texas State University system Board of Regents recently approved an anti- fraud policy in the Texas State University system Rules and Regulations (Chapter III, paragraph 15). The policy provides direction for those who believe that financial or inventoried resources may have been lost, misappropriated or misused. The policy also state that any form of retaliation against individuals providing information concerning suspected fraud, waste, abuse or other unethical behavior will not be tolerated.
What Should Be Reported
· Illegal or fraudulent acts
· Waste of funds
· Misuse or theft of University property or funds
· Contract and procurement irregularities
· Conflicts of interest
· Travel fraud
Do not use the hotlines to report complainants or grievances involving wages, working conditions, discrimination and other personnel issues. These issues should be reported in accordance with the relevant University Policies and Procedures Statements (UPPS).
When should a report be made?
Immediately! You should make a report as soon as information is available.
What information should be provided?
· Circumstances of the incident(s) noted (names, dates, times and places)
· Campus, department and individuals involved
· Location of any available evidence (physical evidence or records)
· Names and telephone numbers of credible witnesses

These reports are managed by the State Auditor Office and passed on to the System and/or Campus level as each situation dictates.
