Cemetery policies today often limit how graves can be decorated, thus eliminating hallowed traditions such as the use of arches and the planting of natural vegetation such as bushes, flowers and trees. Many families circumvent these policies by inventing new and creative ways to uphold traditional grave decorations. In many instances however, cemetery policy is simply ignored, and decorations are displayed proudly on graves.
