The Center for Archaeological Studies (CAS), directed by Dr. Britt Bousman, was established in January 2000 as a research center within the Department of Anthropology at Texas State University-San Marcos.
Our Mission
CAS was founded to:
- Promote archaeological and anthropological research in the New and Old Worlds,
- Conduct archaeological investigations for Federal, State and Local governments as well as Private entities as required by Law,
- Assist in the cultural resource management of sites associated with Texas River Center at Spring Lake and other sites on the campus of Texas State,
- Provide student training in the field of archaeology through direct research experience,
- Support public education through a better understanding of anthropology including archaeology, as well as history, and the preservation of cultural resources.
