CAS is housed at the BMC-West Building on Ranch Road 12 on the west side of San Marcos. The CAS laboratory provides areas for artifact analysis, electronic drafting, temporary curation of artifacts, writing, report production, and administrative tasks. CAS also permanently curates artifacts and materials from Aquarena Springs, Texas State UniversityTexas field school excavations, and other Texas State campus sites. CAS has all the excavation equipment necessary to conduct modern excavations and surveys. Computers, scanners, a CD-ROM reader-writer, a plotter, and printers are used to produce reports in electronic and traditional paper media. CAS has full GIS capabilities through the use of ESRI ArcView software.
