Welcome to Allies of Texas State

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) individuals have historically felt unsafe on college and university campuses, felt invisible on campus, or found the climate uninviting or hostile. These conditions often foil attempts to foster student development and growth, to recruit faculty and staff, and to retain the diversity of the campus community. Because of this, the Allies of Texas State program aims to create and sustain "safe places," places where LGBTQ students, staff, and faculty can speak with an Ally in confidence. The program also seeks to include LGBTQ individuals in all aspects of campus life. The Allies of Texas State program is coordinated by the VPSA Allies Program Team.

For the First time Allies can contribute to the Allies Program during the Reach for the Stars Texas State staff/faculty charitable giving campaign in which we all come together to make a difference in the lives of our fellow faculty, staff and students. Dates:  October 12-November 18

There are numerous opportunities for giving and numerous ways to give.  You may contribute using payroll deduction, credit card, e-check, check, or cash.  If interested in making a contribution online, please visit:  http://www.ua.txstate.edu/Office-development/Faculty-and-Staff-Giving-active.html#Under the “Gift Fund” section, select Other, and enter “Allies Program” in the Fund Name. Click on “Start Search”. The Allies Program is within the Student Affairs Division and Multicultural Student Affairs Department.
If you are not faculty/staff and would like to contribute, please visit http://www.ua.txstate.edu/TSTA.html. Click on “Make Your Gift Online”. Under “Campaigns”, click “Other”. In the drop down box for “University Area”, select “Student Affairs”. Next, click the drop down box for “Department” and select “Multicultural Student Affairs”. Finally, click the drop down box for “Fund” and select “Allies Program”. Then proceed with your donation.
This fund is necessary. We have been unable to support students who are cut off financially by family when they come out or who want to attend LGBTQ conferences in order to provide better resources to our LGBTQ community. This fund is being created so that the Allies Program Team can distribute funds to support LGBTQ students with emergency tuition and book buying monies, to send LGBTQ student leaders to training opportunities, and to support Allies educational programs. Your donation of even $10 can greatly support our endeavor to provide financial assistance to our LGBTQ students. If you have any questions or difficulties contributing to the fund, please e-mail us at allies@txstate.edu.

I'm an Ally, are you?
