Job 2009-1 - Assistant Professor
Responsibilities
Tenure track Assistant Professor in the Nutrition and Foods Program in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. The Nutrition and Foods Program has an accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics, a post-baccalaureate accredited Dietetic Internship, and an MS in Human Nutrition with Functional Foods and Nutritional Sciences tracks. Over 250 students major in one of our four undergraduate Nutrition and Foods tracks: Nutrition and Foods (with a minor); Nutritional Science; Dietetics; and Hospitality, Nutrition & Food Service Teacher Certification.
Nine-month appointment with possible summer teaching. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; developing new courses/curricula in basic and advanced food science and food processing and product development from a human nutrition perspective; supervising thesis research and writing; engaging in an active, externally funded research program; participating in appropriate service activities.
Qualifications
Required:
Earned doctorate in food science, food technology, food processing, or a closely related field; evidence of research experience; ability to teach courses related to food science and food processing and product development; university teaching experience.
Preferred:
Undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience; US food industry-related experience; Peer-reviewed journal publications; Grant writing experience; Evidence of financial support for research; Teaching and research awards; Registered Dietitian.
