Responsibilities
The Department of Technology is seeking a tenure track full professor level position in the area of concrete industry management. This innovative new program of study is drawn from the areas of construction management, engineering, business and industrial concrete practice. The Department also currently offers construction related degrees through their rapidly growing Industrial/Engineering Technology programs. In the Fall of 2003, the Department moved into a new, 250,000 square foot facility. The construction program is currently in ACCE candidate status and has over 200 majors. The Department is housed in a College of Science that has 6 academic departments and a newly founded School of Engineering. The candidate will serve as the Program Coordinator for the Concrete Industry Management program. Also, the candidate will be expected to be an excellent instructor and teach several undergraduate/graduate courses from some of the following areas: concrete properties and testing, concrete construction, prevention and diagnosis of concrete problems, concrete applications, and management of concrete products. In addition to teaching concrete industry management and related construction courses, the individual selected will also be expected to support the wider teaching mission of the department. Other responsibilities include securing funding, conducting and publishing relevant research in the area of concrete industry management appropriate for an emerging research institution. Engagement in appropriate service activities is also expected.
Qualifications
Required:
A doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field that focuses on concrete. An undergraduate degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. Good English speaking and writing skills.
To be considered for the rank of full professor, candidate must meet the requirements for a full professor at Texas State University-San Marcos.
Preferred:
Professional certification, field experience in concrete industry, and prior teaching experience.
