Responsibilities
Conduct two or more of the university’s choral ensembles. Collaborate with choral, vocal, and opera faculty members for the development of the “culture of singing” at Texas State. Cultivate professional relationships with choral music educators and community ensembles throughout the state and region. Teach in related areas including choral literature, rehearsal techniques, and conducting at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Recruit and retain outstanding students for the choral/vocal program at Texas State and for the choral ensembles.

Qualifications
Required:
Doctorate required. ABD will be considered, but the successful candidate must have completed the doctoral degree before the beginning of the fall 2008 semester. Evidence of enthusiastic leadership and successful program development. Expertise in choral literature & rehearsal techniques. A commitment to collaboration and innovative teaching.

Preferred:
Evidence of successful artistic achievement in choral conducting at the state and regional levels. Expertise in either men’s chorus, women’s chorus, or vocal jazz is desired. Secondary public school teaching is desired but not required.
