Job 2008-58 - Assistant Professor
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy methods and literacy assessment and conducting and publishing quality research in literacy education. Additional responsibilities include collaborating on the departmental and college research agenda, supporting field-based literacy instruction of undergraduate students, and participating in University and professional service.
Qualifications
Required:
- An earned doctorate in reading, literacy education, or a closely-related field, or may be ABD in such with completion of the doctorate no later than September 1, 2008.
- Evidence of a developing program of research that will impact professional knowledge and practice
- A record of successful teaching in PK-16 settings
Preferred:
- Strong disciplinary grounding in the study of literacy and literacy education
- Strong methodological grounding in the design and conduct of quality research
- Ability to integrate anti-racist multicultural perspectives into teaching methods
- 3+ years of successful PK-12 public school teaching experience
- Experience teaching and/or supervising pre-service teachers in university and field-based settings
- Research foci in areas such as literacy instruction for diverse populations, struggling readers, or English Language Learners
- Experience with successful grant writing
