Job 2008-50 - Assistant/Associate Professor
The Department of Technology is seeking a tenure track assistant/associate professor level position in the area of manufacturing technology. The Department currently offers manufacturing related degrees through their Industrial/Engineering Technology programs. In Fall 2003, the Department moved into a new, 250,000 square foot facility that houses fourteen laboratories. The Department is housed in a College of Science that has 6 academic departments and a newly founded School of Engineering.
Responsibilities
The candidate will be expected to be an excellent instructor and teach several undergraduate and graduate courses from some of the following areas: CAD, CAM, Quality Assurance, Design, Materials, Material Removal, Plastics and Composites, Electronics Manufacturing, Assembly and Metal Casting. “Hands-on” laboratory instruction is a requirement for our program. In addition to the aforementioned areas, the individual selected will also be expected to support the wider teaching mission of the department. The candidate is also expected to secure external funding, conduct and publish research in relevant areas of manufacturing appropriate for an emerging research institution. Engagement in service activities is also expected.
Qualifications
Required:
A doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or another closely related degree that focuses on manufacturing. An undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or closely related field. Good oral and written English language skills.
To be considered for the rank of associate professor, candidate must meet the requirements for an associate professor at Texas State University-San Marcos.
Preferred:
Professional certification, field experience, and prior teaching experience.
