Job 2008-49 - Assistant/Associate Professor
The Department of Technology is seeking a tenure track assistant/associate professor level position in the area of construction management. The Department currently offers construction related degrees through their rapidly growing Industrial/Engineering Technology programs. In the Fall of 2003, the Department moved into a new, 250,000 square foot facility. The construction program is currently in ACCE Candidate Status and has over 200 majors. The Department is housed in a College of Science that has 6 academic departments and a newly founded School of Engineering.
Responsibilities
The candidate will be expected to be an excellent instructor and teach several undergraduate/graduate courses from some of the following areas: estimating, scheduling, contracts, commercial, heavy civil and highway, residential construction, surveying, materials, sustainability and CAD Architectural Design. In addition to teaching construction management and related courses, the individual selected will also be expected to support the wider teaching mission of the department. Also, the candidate is expected to be able to secure funding, conduct and publish relevant research in the area of construction management appropriate for an emerging research institution. Engagement in appropriate service activities is also expected.
Qualifications
Required:
A doctoral degree in one of the following areas: Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a closely related field. An undergraduate degree in a construction, civil engineering or closely related field. Good English speaking and writing skills.
To be considered for the rank of associate professor, candidate must meet the requirements for an associate professor at Texas State University-San Marcos.
Preferred:
Professional certification, field experience, and prior teaching experience.
